Interested in joining the lab?

Thanks for your consideration! We’re launching at Brown University in the Department of Cognitive, Linguistic, and Psychological Sciences in July 2024. The lab will be housed in the Metcalf Research Building on Brown’s main campus.

What will your lab study?

The lab will focus on understanding how we make memories out of what we see and how we use those memories to guide ongoing behavior. Our approach will borrow insights from cognitive psychology, vision science, and neuroscience to understand the neural systems that support human memory, including their representations, computations, and how they give rise to adaptive behavior. The lab will primarily conduct behavioral and fMRI studies in healthy young adults, though other techniques and populations are possible.

Some topics I’m interested in:

That said, this list is not exhaustive and lab members will have an opportunity to shape the lab’s research program. This is one of the main benefits to joining a new lab!

Are you hiring a full-time research assistant/lab manager?

Yes! I’m looking for full-time RA/lab manager to start in summer 2024. This position is ideal for recent college graduates who are looking to gain more research experience before applying to graduate school.

Responsibilities will include experimental design and development, recruitment and testing of human participants, data analysis and presentation of research results, and assisting the lab director with general lab administration. One to two years of related research experience and a bachelor’s degree in psychology, cognitive science, neuroscience, computer science, or a related field is required.

If interested, please apply here.

Are you hiring postdocs?

I’m not actively seeking to fill a postdoc position, but am always interested in hearing from advanced PhD students who have shared or complementary research interests with my own. If you’re interested in exploring a postdoc position in my lab, please contact me directly.

Are you taking PhD students to begin in Fall 2024?

The application deadline has passed! Check back next cycle!

Yes! I’ll be reviewing graduate student applications through the CLPS department this year. Prospective students can find more information about how to apply on the department website. Applications are due December 1, 2023. Fee waivers are available!

Competitive applicants will have prevous research experience in cognitive neuroscience or a related discipline and a shared interest in the lab’s research questions. Your statement of purpose should include a clear description of your research interests, an overview of your previous research experiences and skillset, and why you consider the Brown CLPS department and my lab to be a good fit for continuing your training.
